Greg Rand, who helped put the potential of Denver real estate on the investment map with a recent segment on Fox Business, is coming to Denver.
Rand, principal of OwnAmerica in Rye, N.Y., on a Fox segment called How Can You Profit From Housing Growth in Denver??will be speaking from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on March 14 at the Denver Marriott Tech Center, 490 S. Syracuse St. A ticket costs $25 if ordered in advance and $35 at the door. In addition to being a TV and radio personality, Rand also is an author, consultant, and a public speaker.
Rand will make the presentation titled, Learn How to Build Wealth with Colorado Real Estate, after he visits the nearby RE/MAX world headquarters in the Tech Center. Rand will be providing an intense course on his OwnAmerican-certification program for RE/MAX brokers before the two-hour seminar.
?It?s a double-header,? Rand said today. ?RE/MAX brokers attending my program will be certified after being tested in the morning. We?re not licensed to provide a continuing education credit in Colorado, but our certification program helps bring their professional level up a notch or two. Then, I will present a more consumer-oriented seminar in the evening.?
While he said ?we can accommodate?? as many as 450 in the Marriott Tech Center, he said, the 240 or so RE/MAX brokers attending his certification program will be able to bring guests, so he?s not sure how many spaces will be available for the public, other brokers, and both experienced and novice real estate investors at the evening seminar.
?I think tickets are going to go pretty fast.?
Rand, who cited a great deal of demographic information on why Denver was his favorite city for real estate investment on Fox, said the TV segment really took off after InsideRealEstateNews ran an article about it on Jan. 6. He also notes that Dave Liniger, the co-founder of Denver-based RE/MAX, is predicting one out of every four home sales this year will be investors.
Report went viral
?It went viral,? Rand said in an interview. ?It is incredible. It just went crazy. In large part because of what you wrote, it just exploded.?
He has received so many calls and emails from people in Denver, he decided it was time to visit.
?I really felt drawn to Denver because the response was so huge. One thing I learned is that people in Denver and Colorado are very entrepreneurial. ?The road to independence and wealth literally is right beneath your feet,? in Denver.
Rand said he didn?t plan on bringing his show to the road in Denver, when he first picked the Mile High City as his No. 1 choice for buying rental homes. ?It wasn?t planned. But the best business plans are the ones that are created by consumer-demand.?
However, he said that those looking for a ?get-rich-quick scheme,? will be disappointed by his seminar.
?I?m the antidote to that,? he said. ?I?m the voice of reason. If you buy one investment property, and the next year buy another and so on, after a while owning investment properties will be a life-changing event.?
He added that he feels his seminars are geared toward those who are just getting started in real estate investing, but he has been surprised at the level of knowledge and sophistication of some audience members.
Last January, for example, he gave a similar presentation to the public in Colorado Springs, following a certification program for RE/MAX brokers. in the Springs.
?My enthusiasm is really for the neophyte?but when I was in Colorado Springs there was a manager for a fund that had millions of dollars in investments. I?m kind of nervous that people like him would be kind of bored, but he told me that he liked what I had to say. It reinforced what he believes and he said he could take my message back to his clients interested in investing in real estate.?
More typical, perhaps, was a young couple in the front row.
?They were in their late 20s and they both had jobs, but they are very entrepreneurial, which like I said, I find is very true of people in the Denver area. They?re total neophytes, but something about real estate investing just clicked for them.?
